Durham, March 19
The Durham are council of the National Union of Mineworkers, comprising delegates from 142 lodges in the Durham coalfield, to-day decided to instruct the 3,500 miners in strike at Whitburn, Harton, and Westoe collieries to resume work immediately. The
council gave an undertaking to institute an official inquiry into the men's complaints against an overman at Whitburn colliery as soon as the strike was ended.
