Official Notice

Coal Act, 1938.

Notice of the exclusion of minerals or substances other than bituminous coal, cannel coal or anthracite from the operation of Section 3 (4) (B) of the Coal Act, 1938.*

Notice is hereby given that the Coal Commission in pursuance of their powers under paragraph (b) of Sub-section (4) of Section 3 of the Coal Act, 1938, have given direction for the exclusion from the operation of the said paragraph of the minerals and substances hereinafter specified which are comprised in a Lease dated 30th May 1901, and made between The Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England of the one part and The South Moor Colliery Company Limited of the other part as varied by subsequent Deeds which Lease is now vested in the Holmside & South Moor Collieries Limited that is to say: — All such minerals and substances other than coal as can be worked by surface workings not in association with coal within an area of 3,620 acres or thereabouts situated in the Civil Parish of Lanchester in the County of Durham which area is more particularly delineated in the plans annexed to the said Lease and Deeds.

Dated this 16th day of June, 1939.
