Weardale Iron and Coal Company (Limited)

It is reported that Sir Christopher Furness is about to purchase the ironworks and collieries in the county of Durham belonging to the Weardale Iron and Coal Company. Mr. J. S. Barwick, Lord Londonderry's principal representative at Sunderland, is said to be associated with Sir Christopher Furness in the purchase. Sir Christopher Furness, in reply to a telegram from a news agency, states that he is unable to supply any information about the matter at present. Mr. Barwick stated last night that an offer had been made, but matters were still only in course of negotiation. It was as yet uncertain that the terms would be agreed upon.
