The adjourned inquest on 15 of the bodies recovered from the coal-pit at St. Helen's, Workington, in which a disastrous explosion took place on the 19th of April and 30 lives were lost, was resumed yesterday at Workington. Most of the day was occupied in
the examination of Mr. Johnstone, the manager of the mine, who said the cause of the explosion was that a shot had been fired which had lighted a gas feeder. Some further evidence having been given, the inquiry was adjourned.
